Immunity’s new PDA like device, the Silica, is a great little device that will allow corporations or others interested in security matters, to perform active hacking attempts on wireless networks, including Bluetooth and 802.11, to discover weak points so that they can be corrected.
It’s really something, in my opinion, because it will make it so easy for large enterprises to walk around and discover what’s locked up and what’s not, and, so long as it’s used in the right way — that is, correct problems and educate employees, not exploit or target them with action immediately — I think it could really strengthen our infrastructure as a whole.
The Silica will be released into the US early in October, according to eWeek.
