As reported earlier on this site, today was the day that the eleventh Doctor Who would be introduced to the world.
The BBC made the announcement today on a Doctor Who Confidential special aired on their flagship TV channel (BBC1) early this afternoon.
After dropping hints and teases throughout the special, the successor to David Tennant was finally revealed at the end.
Matt Smith, a virtual unknown compared to some of the other names that’ve been bandied about, is your new Time Lord.
Who? …Apparently so, yes.
Further updates as events warrant.

Alas, I was hoping for your opinion on the choice.
I thought it was an odd choice, but then I’ve only ever seen him in one thing before. He definitely would not be my first choice to inhabit the TARDIS, but I will reserve TOO much judgement until I see him in the role. This may be an interesting season :D
Unfortunately, it’s very hard for me to have an opinion about a guy I’ve never heard of, which honestly I haven’t. I did find it interesting they picked someone so young (I believe Smith is now the youngest Doctor at the time of his casting ever), but really that’s about all I can say. For now.
Like you, though, I really can’t wait now for 2010 to see how well he holds up to the intense scrutiny he’ll no doubt be placed under…
He’s a bit hideous, isn’t he?
