The voice acting, even by people as hard to understand as Ozzy and Lemmy, was spot on. The default phrases for each submission get old after hearing them repeatedly and there is no way to skip them. But it’s all right as they’re not very long, so there’s not much to sit through. There’s a heavy dose of humor in this game too though, so it’s not all work and no play.
The music is pretty friggin’ sweet! Of course, if you don’t like metal, you’re probably better off muting the music in the options menu. But if you don’t like metal, why are you playing this game in the first place, right? They have metal from every era on this game. If you know anything about metal it’s all bands you know and love. If you don’t know anything about the genre, you’ll probably still recognize a good number of the names.
The art is pretty impressive as well. It’s highly-stylized and the attention to detail is quite impressive. The imagery covers everything from plains areas to lava-filled mines and monolithic buildings to snowy mountains, swamps, and jungles and the different character designs cover just as wide an area ranging from glam to bondage inspired, severe goth, and almost completely nude even. None of the art feels out of place or forced, all climates flow between each other fairly easily and the characters change gradually from one area to the next.
This game is a bit short though, I managed to beat it in roughly eight hours. If you look for every last hidden object and really explore the map, you may be able to stretch it.
Overall, I really liked this game. It had very few shortcomings and the ones it did have were incredibly minor. The music, voice talent, and art all worked to make a pretty rich and fun experience. With multiple difficulties and a multiplayer that I haven’t yet had a chance to crack into, there’s plenty of replay opportunity here too.
