Comic Rundown: Biker Zombies vs. Killer Nuns
Posted by on Dec 8th, 2009

Action Comics #884 has Lois Lane being carted off by government agents as anti-Kryptonian sentiment reaches a fever point. If you haven’t been following around, Supes is no longer the only Kryptonian and has re-embraced his Kryptonian side. But back on Earth, the government isn’t too happy – especially when Lois’ own daddy, General Sam Lane, hatches a plan to take down the Man of Steel using his own adopted home-world as a base of operations. Captain Atom also returns to take own his old enemy – Major Force – but memories of his past as crazed alternate reality despot Monarch aren’t soon forgotten.

In Adventure Comics #5, the Black Lanterns are out for blood – that of Superboy Prime. Now Superboy Prime – who has returned powerless to his regular world, where all of this is just a comic book – has to face off against a Black Lantern squad lead by none other than Alexander Luthor, Jr. And if one Luthor wasn’t bad enough, the regular Superboy has to confront the man whose DNA he shares – and I don’t mean Superman! I mean Lex Luthor!

Batgirl #5 finally introduces the new Batgirl – Stephanie Brown – to the new Batman and Robin. And as you can guess, they aren’t to happy to find an unsanctioned vigilante in Gotham City. The issue pits Stephanie against the Robin everyone loves to hate – Damian Al Ghul – while also forcing the new Batman Dick Grayson into a confrontation with Stephanie’s new mentor – Barbara Gordon.

In Booster Gold #27, Booster’s latest team-up with his buddy Blue Beetle turns ugly when his friend Ted Kord rises from the grave as a Black Lantern. Now Booster Gold and the newest Blue Beetle Jamie have to take down Booster’s best friend and Jamie’s successor once and for all – but the consequences will taint everyone involved.

And if you’re in the mood for some holiday cheer, check out the DC Holiday Special, which has everyone from Deadman to B’wanna Beast getting into the Christmas spirit. I wonder when Marvel will be releasing their Christmas collection . . . oh wait . . . they already did . . . the week of Halloween! Thanks for that, but I was too busy stuffing candy corn in my mouth in frustration.

Well, that’s it for this week. Between Christmas cheer, Black Lantern dread and Deadpool hilarity, you should have plenty of line your pull box this week!
