Amazing Spider-Man #616 continues the Gauntlet and puts Sandman squarely back in the villain category – and interestingly enough, its all Spidey’s fault. How exactly should be interesting – it would be cool to see Spider-Man actually responsible for a villain’s plight in some practical way as opposed to a vaguely existential “Joker” style rant.
Black Widow and the Marvel Girls #2 continues to chart Natasha’s turn from killer KGB agent to all-American Avenger. This issue has her separated from her comrades and on the run from Victor Von Doom, with only the Wasp to watch her back. The team-up could be amusing, especially those of us who miss the Wasp since her two deaths in “Secret Invasion” and “Ultimatum.”
“Captain America: Who Will Wield The Shield?” asks the question on every comic book fans – who will be Captain America, now that Steve Rogers is back and Bucky is still wearing the costume. I’m actually hoping for the latter – who just needs some more time to shine – but it seems like an awful lot of trouble to kill Steve Rogers, bring him back and regale him to the sidelines as a mentor.
The Luminals are probably the crappiest superhero team in the Galaxy. Their first team were carriers for a sinister zombie plague way back in the pages of Nova, and now they’ve brought back something equally sinister from the Fault. Now it falls to the Guardians of the Galaxy to clean up their mess in Guardians of the Galaxy #21.
Punisher is dead (again) but you gotta give it to Rick Reminder and Terry Moore for coming up with an amusing direction in . . . FRANKENCASTLE! It certainly won’t last, but its heads and tails better looking than Frank’s turn as an angel a couple years back, and if half of hilarious as this picture, it will be worth picking up.
