Comic Rundown: Cap’s Tea Party
Posted by on Feb 16th, 2010

You saw it coming a mile away – the first thing of mention is . . . a Black Lantern. The Flash: Blackest Night comes to a close with issue #3 as Barry Allen takes on the Reverse Flash. But let’s be honest here – the real reason to pick up this book is the Rogues, who find themselves outgunned by every skeleton in their closet. As the body count rises, one Rogue will be changed by the carnage of Blackest Night

Things get interesting in Green Lantern #51. The Spectre – possessed by the Black Lantern’s control of the dead – has come calling, and the only way for Hal Jordan to beat his former host is to invite an even deadlier parasite into his system – Parallax. If you’re not big into Green Lantern lore, the last time Jordan was possessed by Parallax, he killed almost every Green Lantern – along with the very fabric of time and space. Things are about hot in here.

James Robinson’s new JL continues to take shape in Justice League of America #42. Will the new Batman – Dick Grayson – join the newest League, and if so, what conditions will there be? Honestly, this is one thing I’ve wanted to see since Grayson took over. If the League is so used to Batman, who will they react to a different person under the mask?

And last but not least, Lana Lang isn’t dead . . . but her status is at least one point of interest in the double-sized Supergirl #50. It looks like Lang’s Silver Age past as “the Insect Queen” is catching up to her, as a cocoon wraps around her on the operating table. What emerges is anyone’s guess, but it’s tied into a deep, dark secret Supergirl uncovers in this issue. The issue also features a day-in-the-life Supergirl co-written by Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in the probably-best-left-forgotten movie.

Well, that’s it for this week, but between Deadpool, Dr. Doom, Tea Parties and Helen Slater, you should have plenty of keep your pullbox full this week.
