In “The Gauntlet”, a continuing update of Spidey’s most iconic foes, “Spectacular Spider-Man” showrunner Greg Weisman shines the light on Flash Thompson. A lot has happened to Peter Parker’s high school nemesis – like losing his legs in the service. This simple standalone story sees Flash Thompson pushing on after his loss, and oh yeah, Spider-Man also fights Morbius.
Spidey also guest stars in “Deadpool #20″ where the fast-talking webslinger and the Merc with a Mouth team-up to stop an unstoppable killer known as . . . Hit-Monkey. Yeah . . . way to go with that one, “House of Ideas.” Luckily, with Deadpool and Spidey in the same issue, it should be a funny one.
In the kid-friendly “Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #60″, the NYPD hire Spider-Man as a consultant. Though scrapped for cash as always, the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a little wary of the poo-lice, suspecting a trap or something else in sheep’s clothing – and he’s use a consultant of his own to find the truth – one named Emma Frost.
“Ms. Marvel #50″ has the final issue for Carol Danvers, as she and Dark X-Man Mystique square off in a battle royale to the finish. As you can imagine, the ending holds many changes for the key Avenger, and I can’t help but wonder how these changes will be felt in Siege – or the upcoming “Heroic Age.” If you can, definitely get the foreboding Captain Marvel-style variant.
And I was as skeptical about the next guy in regards to X-Factor #202, which has the team hired to find the MIA Invisible Woman . . . but they actually seem to be doing it! Now, part of the team are storming the gates of Latveria with the Thing, while Franklin and Valeria Richards find themselves under the protection of . . . Strong Guy?
